Amadou Diagne is a Senegalese multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer and songwriter whose music bridges the rich traditions of West Africa with contemporary global influences. Born into a distinguished Griot family lineage of musicians, storytellers and praise singers, he inherited a deep connection to the musical heritage of Senegal from an early age.
A former full-time member of l'Orchestre National du Sénégal, Amadou established himself as a highly respected percussionist, performing in concerts, cultural events and television productions alongside some of West Africa's leading artists. During this period, he also became a sought-after session musician on Dakar's vibrant music scene, developing the rhythmic versatility and musical depth that continue to define his work today.
Since relocating to England, Amadou has forged a distinctive artistic voice of his own. Drawing on his Griot roots while embracing collaborations with musicians from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds, he has created a sound that is both deeply rooted and refreshingly contemporary. Singing primarily in Wolof, with elements of French and English, his music blends traditional West African rhythms and melodies with influences from blues, folk, jazz and world music.
A gifted multi-instrumentalist, Amadou performs on guitar, kora, djembe, congas, talking drum and a wide range of percussion instruments. His unique guitar style reflects his background as a percussionist, weaving intricate rhythms and melodic lines into performances that are dynamic, expressive and full of improvisational energy.
Amadou's recording career has earned international recognition.
